The Opportunity:
 
The role of the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) is to improve opportunities and access to economic and social participation for Indigenous Australians through our advice to Government, the delivery of the Governments programs and through our influence on the work of other stakeholders. The advertised position is within the Program Performance and Delivery Group. The Group leads a range of grants management and grant delivery functions.
 
As an APS5 officer within the Group you will be expected to:
 
  • Demonstrate effective grants management skills, including ability to assess performance and financial reports related to grants management activities.
  • Demonstrate success in engaging with stakeholders including Indigenous stakeholders to achieve outcomes for Government.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different audiences.
  • Demonstrate analytical, research and problem solving skills.
  • Deliver results by identifying emerging opportunities or issues, and respond quickly to competing priorities as they emerge, and being flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Uphold the APS Values and Code of Conduct and understand and demonstrate what it means to be an APS employee.

To be successful in the role, you will have a strong understanding of issues that impact program delivery and performance. You will be driven, with the ability to undertake planning, project management, and have strong problem solving skills.
 
You will have a commitment to cultural competency, an effective interpersonal style, an ability to quickly develop productive working relationships. You will have a strong ability to deliver a high volume of work often within tight timeframes.
