The position
This is a new role, offering you the opportunity to design and deliver accessible programs and activities for various learning styles, abilities and preferences. This will include studio-based creative activities for onsite, online and outreach.  To create effective and informative programs you will liaise with community, applying appropriate cultural protocols, and work collaboratively with colleagues across the Gallery to prepare interesting content.
 
To be successful in this role you will have experience in the education sector and/or a strong understanding of programming and content development principles. You will be well equipped to deliver programs to a range of audiences and groups within the community including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, children and adults.
 
Strong administrative and organisational skills are key requirements in undertaking this role, as are the personal qualities of working flexibly, cooperatively with the team or independently with minimal direction. 
 
This part-time (3 days per week), non-ongoing employment opportunity is available until 30 June 2021 within the PERLA Department, Curatorial and Exhibitions Portfolio. The position will be filled using the Affirmative Measure provision, which allows for the targeted recruitment of Indigenous Australians into the Australian Public Service. The vacancy is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. The filling of this employment opportunity is intended to constitute an affirmative measure under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975.

Job Requirements:

Demonstrates a commitment to NGA values, and guiding principles for learning including First nations first, inclusion and artist-led practice. 

Liaises with community and colleagues in the development of creative learning programs and content, taking a collaborative approach and enacting cultural protocols where they may apply and implementing approval processes. 

Designs and delivers inclusive, accessible programs and activities for various learning styles, abilities and preferences including studio-based creative activities for onsite, online and outreach.  

Identifies and understands the breadth of audience needs and expectations, contributing to continuous improvement supporting program review, refreshment and implementation.  

Contributes to a collegiate and supportive team culture, including being punctual and reliable for often tightly scheduled meetings and programs.  

Contributes to WH&S aspects of programs, including undertaking risk assessments and implementing risk management practices for public activities and programs.
