Job Description:

Broadspectrum are currently seeking a Electrician/Electrical HVAC Fitter for their Joint Logistics Unit based at Robertson Barracks. This role would see you undertake maintenance, testing and repair activities across a range of plant and equipment, in particular electrical equipment, plant and field power generators to medium grade level as well as conduct modification to AC and DC electrical equipment.

 

Primary Responsibilities 

Conducting electrical maintenance tasks, including technical inspection and classification, for which they are competent and qualified within time frames specified in Work Orders to the required Work Standards and/or the standard detailed in materiel specific instructions.  This may include:

  • Complete plant and equipment routine maintenance and testing as allocated.
  • Work under limited supervision either individually or in a team environment.
  • Carry out minor plant isolation and operation within your competencies and qualifications.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance activities.
  • Carry out electrical integrity testing on 240 V and 415 V electrical equipment items.
  • Repair, refurbish or replace defective components and perform corrective maintenance activities as required to restore plant and equipment performance both on site and off site.
  • Document all activities, readings taken, materials and time used to input information into the Maintenance Management System and to complete Quality Assurance records required for assigned tasks.
  • Undertake on going technical training as required to perform full requirements of role.
  • Refer to circuit diagrams and use meters and test instruments to diagnose electrical faults.
  • Carry out technical inspection, test, diagnose and replace faulty components on 240 V and 415 V field power generators and refrigeration equipment. 
  • Use hand tools, specialised electrical tools, instruments and machines.
  • Contributing to the collaborative innovation by identifying continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Notifying supervisors if they detect any additional equipment faults and briefing on completed tasks as required.
  • Management and accountability of repair parts and consumables issued. 
  • Providing feedback and technical advice to equipment operators.
  • On the completion of maintenance tasks:
  • Conduct checks to ensure that the maintenance tasks have been completed in accordance with the relevant Work Standard.
  • Signing the relevant section of a Job Card to certify that tasks have been completed in accordance with the Work Standard.
  • Investigate materiel defects and reporting on unsatisfactory materiel, and drafting reports.
  • Observing and applying all technical data and orders that relate to these duties.
  • Support on the job training for Apprentices and Defence Trainees.

 

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:  

  • The incumbent holds key working relationships with the following (but not limited to):
  • JLU Manager, Site Supervisor, Team Leader, Production Officer, Scheduler and Customers

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:  

  • TRF Level 1 - Possess a recognised Trade Certificate III of Proficiency (Electrical) or equivalent Trade Papers
  • Relevant State Electrical License – A Grade
  • Recognised Level 2 First Aid
  • Refrigeration trade and applicable National/State License to handle refrigerants
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to maintain electrical equipment and field power generators to medium level and the ability to conduct modification to AC and DC electrical equipment
  • Possess a valid Australian State or Territory driver’s licence
  • The incumbent to this role must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance up to the level of Negative Vetting Level 1.  
  • Previous experience with Defence would be highly regarded
  • The incumbent must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Other duties as directed from time to time by the Management, that are consistent with the attributes required for this position
