ABOUT LEGAL AID NSW

ABOUT THE ROLE


To organise mediations in family law and Care and Protection contact matters, and promote mediation conferences as an alternative method of dispute resolution, in accordance with Legal Aid NSW policies, guidelines, and procedures.


ABOUT YOU

 

The successful applicant will be responsible, self-motivated and able to work independently to manage a large volume of mediation matters. They will have excellent communication skills and be able to work closely with parties and solicitors in a busy and often stressful environment.

      

Your experience in family law or family mediation will be an asset, as will your technical skills and ability to learn and adapt quickly to new software programs.

   

 

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  

• Willingness to undertake a Criminal Record Check and/or working with Children Check

 

• Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Resident or hold a valid working visa

1. Please provide examples of your commitment to delivering results and great customer service in a high-volume environment dealing with vulnerable clients, competing priorities and tight timeframes.


 2. How would you use your communication skills to encourage parties to participate in family mediation at Legal Aid? Draw on your understanding of the role of family mediation within the Family Court System.

 

The selection process will include a range of comparative assessment techniques to assist in determining capability and suitability for the role.


This recruitment will be used to fill any current vacancies and may be used to create a Talent Pool for similar future vacancies that may arise over the next 18 months.
