Job Description:

About the Organisation

Jungarni-Jutiya Indigenous Corporation supports the people of Halls Creek, WA and surrounding communities to grow better and stronger families. Grown and evolved significantly since their inception in 1989, they deliver a range of community welfare, life skills and education programs directed towards helping people change their behaviour and to minimise harm.

Committed to supporting individuals and families to connect with the positive sides of their culture, they empower people to change their lives by developing their inner strengths, providing client-centred and confidential services in a consistent and coordinated way. The name “Jungarni Jutiya” translates to “straight path” in the native languages of the Kiji and Jaru people, the traditional owners of the surrounding land.

About the Opportunity

Jungarni-Jutiya now has an exciting and highly varied opportunity for a Services Manager to join their team on a full-time basis, with occasional on-call work required. You will be based in Halls Creek, WA, with some travel to surrounding communities, sporadically throughout the year.

Reporting to the CEO, this is a highly varied role that will see you responsible for leading the day to day activities of multiple program areas, ensuring services delivered to the community are of high quality and that best practice standards are followed.

You will be directly responsible for the staff in a variety of program areas, including Financial Counsellors, Financial Capability Workers, the Community Resource Centre, and the Night Patrol unit.

Your day to day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing staff performance, identifying opportunities for development and ensuring staff have access to appropriate training;
  • Planning, delivering and evaluating holistic case management care for individuals and families with complex needs;
  • Ensuring data collection is conducted appropriately, providing written reports on service performance to the CEO according to funding requirements;
  • Supporting the Board and CEO with investigating future service needs, working with the community and other relevant stakeholders to identify gaps or community needs;
  • Representing Jungarni-Jutiya in the local region, participating in networking meeting and presenting information about their services, as required;
  • Assisting with, or completing, as directed, funding applications for both ongoing funding and one-off grants; and
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with other organisations or agencies that support Halls Creek and surrounding communities, coordinating support for clients with these services as needed.

About You

To be successful in this position you will be an experienced leader with strong management skills, able to oversee a diverse and multidisciplinary team. You will hold or be working towards a qualification in Business, Social Work, Health, Financial Counselling or similar, ideally with a Cert IV in Training and Assessment, or an interest in obtaining this.

A highly varied role, you will need to be a fast learner and able to absorb information about a wide range of areas, with support from Jungarni-Jutiya as you get up to speed. Your case management experience will be crucial, as will your strong computer literacy, research abilities, and report writing skills.

A confident communicator, you will be able to adapt your approach to each individual, and be comfortable building relationships with people of all walks of life, from internal to external stakeholders, other service providers and community members. Previous experience living in or working with Indigenous communities will be highly regarded but is not essential, provided you can demonstrate an understanding of Aboriginal culture and are willing to listen to and learn from community members.

Highly flexible, you will be able to think on your feet and successfully manage a highly varied workload, where no two days are the same. You'll be able to work autonomously and problem solve effectively, but equally be a strong listener and natural team player, working effectively with the wider Jungarni-Jutiya team and ensuring that the CEO is kept informed and involved in the decision-making process.

Finally, you'll be driven and genuinely committed to supporting individuals and families in these communities, proactive in following up with your clients and program teams to ensure they are receiving high quality support.

Please note: You will need a current 'C' class driver's license, and be willing to obtain national police clearance and a working with children check.

About the Benefits

This is a unique and highly rewarding opportunity to use your skills to support remote communities. You'll be able to truly make your mark on the organisation, who are committed to continuous improvement and welcome new ideas or suggestions from any of their team!

Jungarni-Jutiya is offering the successful candidate an attractive remuneration package circa $120,000 including super, negotiable based on your experience and qualifications, consisting of a $80,296 base salary and the following fantastic benefits:

  • Salary sacrificing;
  • Remote area and air conditioning allowance;
  • Fully furnished, subsidised accommodation ($200 a week for a 2 bedroom unit);
  • Negotiable incentive bonuses; and
  • Reimbursed airfare to support you if relocating for the role.

Committed to the ongoing growth of each member of their team, Jungarni-Jutiya also offers a range of training and professional development opportunities.

About Halls Creek and the Kimberley Region

The Kimberley region is located in the northern part of Western Australia and covers an area three times larger than England. Despite its size, it has only three main towns (Broome, Derby and Kununurra) and a total population of less than 40,000. Access to much of the region is by dirt road, air, or sea, but despite this isolation, visitors come from around the world to see some of the most stunning landscapes Australia has to offer, with majestic canyons, dramatic waterfalls and ancient cave systems, as well as some of the world’s most beautiful beaches and unique marine life.

At the northern edge of the Great Sandy Desert and Tanami Desert, Halls Creek is the gateway to a range of renowned natural attractions and outback drives. Surrounded by stunning landscapes, close to world heritage listed national parks, the town has a rich history and plenty to see and do. Explore the stunning surrounds, take advantage of nearby swimming or fishing opportunities, or relax at the town's fresh water springs.
