Position Overview

The position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of DST's significant events. As a member of the events team, the Project Support Officer (Events) will undertake complex project activities assisting in the planning and management of major DST Group projects and events such as the annual flagship Partnerships Week event, working with a team of staff and contractors, including divisional representatives and volunteers. This includes contributing to the organisation of internal DST Group events such as scientific seminars and promotional campaigns, as well as DST Group's involvement in Defence activities such as the Future Land Forces Conference, Avalon Airshow and the Pacific International Maritime Exposition. The Project Support Officer (Events) will work with the Project Manager (Events) to ensure professional results that enhance DST Group's reputation with both internal and external stakeholders.

Duties and Key Result Areas

  • You will be required to assist with the planning and preparation of major events and supporting the Project Manager (Events) in the delivery of outcomes within timelines and budgets.
  • As the Project Support Officer (Events) you will apply project management methodologies to administrative and technical activities.
  • You will be required to research, draft and prepare briefs, correspondence and reports including submissions for management consideration.
  • You will interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to gather content and complete projects. The position requires working collaboratively within the division team as well as with researchers and scientists in other divisions.
  • To improve the impact of participation in events, you will contribute innovative ideas and resolve problems, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.

Key Requirements of the Role

The successful applicant will demonstrate effective skills and experience in events coordination. You will have strong organising, administrative and multi-tasking skills. The ability to communicate well with good interpersonal skills is critical for this role. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, problem-solving skills and creativity.
