About the Role
A fantastic new opportunity for a Carer Consultant to join the Mental Health team based at our Mt Barker office on a part time (19 hours per week), max term (until 30/6/2018) basis, with opportunity to extend this contract.

This role will provide the opportunity for the successful candidate to utilise their lived experience of caring for a family member who has experienced or is experiencing mental illness and has been the recipient of a program of a Mental Health Service. The Carer Consultant will act as a resource for providing support, education and innovative strategies to carers engaging in the Life Without Barriers' service.

Skills & Experience
  • Have a lived experience of caring for a person with a mental illness
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of working with the issues faced by carers and families caring for a person with mental health issues
  • Demonstrated ability to positively engage, interact and work with people who have complex needs including a Psychiatric disability
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from Diverse Cultural Backgrounds with specific reference to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the Recovery Framework and the underlying principles
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Have a clear understanding of the issues involved in working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain in first three (3) months of employment
  • Current Driver Licence
  • Ability to travel across the region
  • Available for flexible working hours - weekends, after hours and public holidays as required

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
