Job Description:

TAIHS SUPPORTED BAIL ACCOMMODATION SERVICE (SBAS)

The Supported Bail Accommodation Service (SBAS) is a new service that will provide a home-like environment for young service users, which will include structured and unstructured programs and activities. The service will work closely with Youth Justice who will lead case worker and all young people bailed to the SBAS will be on the Conditional Bail Program. The practice framework focuses on the importance of building relationships as being foundational in supporting the social and emotional wellbeing needs of the client in a practical and culturally responsive manner.

CASE WORKERS (Youth Work)
Rostered Hours/Shiftwork
The Case Worker (Youth Work) is responsible for the provision of appropriate care; including the performance of all duties required to ensure the operations of the service are in line with the programs’ duty of care, practice framework established protocols and the service agreement.

Job Requirements:

Mandatory Requirements
• Qualification/s relevant to the field of case management and/or youth work or a related field of discipline, with at least appropriate Cert IV relevant to the work required to be performed; eg Certificate IV level in Community Services or equivalent
• Previous experience in a relevant industry, service or an equivalent level of expertise and experience to undertake the range of activities required with the willingness to undertake studies to gain the required minimum qualification
• Demonstrated experience/positive engagement when working with persons of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds and an understanding cultural competency
• Ability to operate within a case management model
• Ability to demonstrate strong capabilities around building relationships with and motivating vulnerable people, assessing needs and advocating for the client

Practical Requirements (All Positions)
• Hold a current Suitability ‘Blue Card’ for working with children and young people
• Hold a current Queensland Driver’s Licence
• First Aid Certificate
• Satisfactory Police Check – no Serious/Criminal/Court Record
• Work out of normal hours of duty, including some week-ends, will/may be required
• Travel across the region will be required
