About NIAA

The work we do

These positions are Identified which signifies that the roles may have direct involvement in issues relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. There are a number of vacancies available in the policy areas across NIAA, this includes Social Policy, Strategic Policy and Economic Policy and Programs.

 

At each level candidates will contribute to the success of the Group through:


APS 4

  • Actively working with team members to deliver effective outcomes.
  • Team priorities including stakeholder management.
  • Assisting in managing programs delivered by NIAA.
  • Maintaining close working relationships with other Government agencies, including various Departments.

 

APS 5

  • Actively work with team members in complex matters to build capability thereby delivering effective outcomes.
  • Assisting in the management of programs delivered by NIAA and contributing to performance frameworks and evaluation processes to ensure they meet policy intent.

 

APS 6

  • Providing policy analysis and advice.
  • Assist in managing programs delivered by NIAA through developing performance frameworks and evaluation processes to ensure they meet policy intent.
  • Actively work within the team to deliver effective outcomes.

 

 

To be successful in this role you will be passionate about better understanding the key issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and you will have:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in relationship management and working productively in team environments.
  • Be results-oriented and able to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, or specific interest groups, Government agencies and service providers to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively contribute to the strategic policy design and implementation process, with experience in social, economic or strategic policy and building

an evidence based policy position.

  • An understanding of the complex social, economic or strategic policy issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and strong commitment to ongoing cultural capability development.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-direct and bring your experience, strategic thinking and innovative ideas to improve policy, practice and workplace performance.

Eligibility:

The occupant must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline level security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.

To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen at the closing date of application.
