The Opportunity:
 
The Sydney team (Parramatta office) Eastern NSW Region, works to maximise the social and economic impact and policies and programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The team has responsibility for a sub-region covering urban centres such as Northern, Inner Sydney, Western, South Western Sydney and the Wingecarribee. The team works closely with community members in these locations to provide expert advice and recommendations enduring social and economic benefits to community and on how well policy proposals will deliver social, economic, and business outcomes that are aligned to Indigenous Advancement priorities.
 
 The role works with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to develop place-based needs and priorities as well as securing economic and business opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It will also feed into policy and program responses that address closing the gap. The Engagement Officer will be a practitioner of place based practice and assist in co-designing local solutions, intelligence gathering and building the evidence base. The Engagement Officer also requires the cultural and technical skills to be effective in community engagement in a way that ensure the community voice is accurately heard.
 
The Engagement Officer will also develop program proposals and assess them for the impact they may make on furthering the economic and social development of Indigenous Australians. The role requires knowledge of investment analysis methods, assessing proposals for value and benefit, and engagement methods including co-design principles. It will also require the ability to assess a proposal for social and economic benefits, including data analysis.
