* Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About You

The Research Assistant will undertake research activities in line with the University's research strategy. It is expected that you will work with an increasing degree of autonomy as skills and experience develop.

To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

* A PhD thesis in one or more of the areas of electrochemistry, chemistry, physical chemistry, material science, chemical engineering, or a related discipline.
* Demonstrated experience in research areas that are consistent with the mission and objectives of the project and extensive experience in electrochemistry and electrochemical synthesis.
* Demonstrated ability to create outside-the-box alternatives for difficult problems.
* Demonstrated experience in the formulation and optimisation of electrolytes such as ionic liquids.
* Demonstrated experience in material characterisation techniques via XPS, optical spectroscopy and electron microscopy as well electrochemical techniques.
* Evidence of research impacts including publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports in the field.
* Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners.
* Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required.
* Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills.
