Job Description:

Full-time, Fixed Term for 1 year.

* Salary Level Academic B + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements.

* Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University.


About You

You have research background in control systems, complex network systems, intelligent systems, power and energy systems. When it comes to your work, you are original and creative in your approach. You are an excellent team player and have great communications skill both verbal and written. In addition, you are a great presenter and are able to engage students. Overall, you are an invaluable member and provide great support to your team.


Position Summary

The Research Fellow will work as a member of research team undertaking research in intelligent and complex systems and their engineering applications, as well as other research activities in line with the University's research strategy. The position will carry out independent and team research which has a significant impact in the area of their specialisation.


The Research Fellow will embed their research expertise into the life of the School through the development of high-quality, productivity-driven research networks across RMIT and with local and national, internal and external partners. Research Fellows will be expected to engage in high quality research projects, to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs.

Key Selection Criteria:


* Demonstrated excellent emerging research track record and recognition for quality research outputs in one or more of the following areas: complex networks, discontinuous control systems, multi-agent systems, intelligent systems, and smart grids, evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.

* Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.

* Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.

* Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.

About the Group

The Intelligent Informatics and Control Research Group focuses on all aspects of intelligent data-driven modelling, control and optimisation in complex network environments, and their applications in industries such as energy, automotive, manufacturing, sociology and biology.
