~~* Full-time, Fixed Term position until June 2024
* Salary Level HEW 5 + 17% Superannuation
* Based at the Bundoora campus

About the Role

The Research Assistant will undertake research activities in line with the University's research strategy and the work of the Ageing and Immunotherapies (A&I) Lab. The A&I Lab's goal is to understand how ageing alters our immune system and use that information to improve immune-based therapies for older patients. We use animal models, tissue samples from generous donors and in vitro systems to undertake this work.

About You

For this role, you will have a background in immunology and will be comfortable working with mice. You will support and perform technical aspects of experimental work and take care of laboratory administration. More specifically, you will have PC2 lab experience with sound knowledge of OH&S and risk assessments. It is expected that you will work with an increasing degree of autonomy as skills and experience develop.

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

* Strong experience in lab-based mouse handling (basic handling, one-handed restraint, subcutaneous injection, intramuscular injection).
* Strong experience immunological techniques such as leukocyte isolation, cell culture and flow cytometry.
* Experience with other laboratory techniques such as ELISA, magnetic activated cell sorting, and molecular biology.
* Experience with accurate data analysis, including flow cytometric analysis using FlowJo and statistical tests using GraphPad Prism.
* Demonstrated ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners.
* Demonstrated ability to establish, interpret and follow written methods and standard operating protocols.

Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
