Full-time, Continuing position
* Salary Level HEW 8 + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements
* Based at the Melbourne CBD campus (Hybrid role), the successful applicant will gain experience and skills in project management from Project Planning to delivery.

About the Portfolio

Property Services is located in the Operations Portfolio which is the services nucleus of RMIT and the focus for the development of the finance, people development infrastructure and systems that provide administrative capacity to the University.

Property Services has approximately 120 staff and has the responsibility to operate, maintain and enhance the buildings owned and leased by RMIT University, oversee construction projects and ensure the provision of physical facilities services.

The Group has an operating budget in excess of $40M and prospective capital projects of over $30M per annum for the next few years in Melbourne and Vietnam. RMIT's built environment involves approximately 110 buildings in Melbourne spread across all of RMIT's campuses and sites.

About You

The Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of allocated capital projects under the direction of management. The role will be capable of handling 3-5 projects at the same time and have a good understanding of various project management practices. You will be responsible for investigating project user requirements, managing project consultants and contractors, monitoring the progress of projects, managing project budgets, and providing technical expertise with the ability to resolve any issues or discrepancies.

Your Responsibilities


* Ensure User requests for building projects are fully understood and achievable by investigating requirements
* Ensure allocated projects are adequately resourced and can meet realistic deadlines for completion
* Develop brief, concepts and details of projects, procuring contractors and suppliers, and progressing development and execution of solutions
* Scheduling and supervising all project activities throughout the life of the projects
* Manage projects within approved budgets, including tracking of commitments, expenditure and cashflows
* Ensure all allocated projects meet acceptable standards of quality and are completed according to the brief

Skills & Experience


* Knowledge and 5-10 years experiences in managing and delivering several projects within a large complex organization.
* Demonstrated ability to inform, engage and coordinate with stakeholders in a high-volume work environment
* Thorough technical knowledge of all construction / professional disciplines
* Ability to manage the performance of contracts, programs, budgets and projects and effectively deliver results
* Ability to understand and translate User requirements into sound technical specifications
* Strong initiative and ability to work independently
* Fast, agile and able to consistently meet set program milestones and budgets
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
