The Opportunity: 
We are seeking to fill the role of the APS6 Senior Recruitment Adviser within the NIAA Recruitment and Entry Level Programs Team. We are seeking someone with experience and understanding of recruitment and selection within the APS to lead our recruitment operations.
The Agency has an ambitious and important agenda ahead of us and recruitment is an important function to contribute to our success.
The delivery of the Agency’s recruitment services are changing and will be shortly become holistically an internal responsibility. This role is an exciting opportunity to be part of establishing and tailoring a function within the Agency. 
As part of the broader People Branch, we work in partnership to deliver services and design and implement new ideas and ways of working that address the unique needs and challenges of the Agency. We have a diverse and dispersed workforce with approximately 70 offices across Australia.
The Recruitment Team is responsible for providing guidance and advice on internal and external selection processes as well as on all aspects of recruitment from advertising, assessment to onboarding, transfers and alternative options for filling vacancies. The team is a responsive, trusted and reliable partner who provide valued advice and services to staff at all levels.
As the APS6 Recruitment Team Leader, you will be responsible for managing the day to day operation of the recruitment team which includes:
  • Assist in designing and advertising of recruitment processes
  • Providing accurate, timely and complex advice to internal staff, candidates and stakeholders 
  • Ensuring onboarding requests are accurate and completed in a timely manner
  • Research, problem solve and provide solutions to overcome challenges 
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and guide a small team including mentoring and coaching 
  • Prioritise the workload to ensure timeframes and expectations are managed
  • Share skills, knowledge and experience within the team and broader agency to build recruitment acumen
  • Identify where improvements can be made to streamline and enhance processes and materials
  • Oversee the recruitment system management including updates and enhancements
  • Contribute and develop recruitment and onboarding reporting.

Our Ideal Candidate
The role requires someone who is an experienced recruitment professional who has passion, drive and desire to assist the Agency to deliver on the exiting and important Australian Government commitments.
The ideal candidate will be someone who has strong project management and is capable of delivering practical, accurate and often complex advice whilst being innovative.
We are looking for someone who is business and client focused, who can deliver and manage projects and deliverables that compete and evolve.
To be successful in the role you will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
  • Ability to research, interpret and apply HR legislation and policies 
  • Provide HR advice and assistance to stakeholders (phone, email or face to face)
  • Have experience in developing recruitment strategies and approaches
  • Have experience in recruitment systems (eRecruit or similar) and processing 
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders of all levels
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and experience
  • Be resilient and compassionate when dealing with sensitive or challenging situations
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, display high levels of professionalism, discretion, integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to manage and lead a small team 
  • Be self-aware, culturally competent and foster respect and inclusion in the workplace
  • Understand and actively demonstrate the APS Code of Conduct and Values.As the lead Commonwealth Agency for Indigenous Affairs, you need to have an appreciation, awareness and understanding of issues relating to aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities and be committed to strengthening your ongoing cultural competency.
