Job Description:

The Opportunity

We have a range of vacancies in the Industry, Infrastructure and Environment Division (II&E). II&E offers fast paced and fascinating work on issues that matter to Australians and go to the heart of our country’s future. We advise the Prime Minister and the Cabinet on a wide range of issues from infrastructure, agriculture, industry, and telecommunications, to the arts, the environment, energy and climate change.

Working with a high degree of autonomy in high-achieving teams, successful applicants will work closely with other teams across the department and the APS to brief the Prime Minister and Cabinet on priority issues. Successful applicants will leverage PM&C’s whole-of-government insights to assist other departments to develop and refine policy proposals. This involves drafting briefs and advice, creating written and data-based products, coordinating input across internal teams and supporting other departments through the Cabinet process.

A merit pool may be established and used to fill the same or similar vacancies for 18 months from the date of advertising.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Comprehends complex topics quickly;

  • Delivers under pressure;
  • Can work independently and proactively;
  • Acts with honesty and integrity;
  • Responds flexibly to changing priorities; and
  • Communicates clearly in writing and speech.
Previous Government experience is appreciated, but not required.

If unsure about the appropriate level to apply for, please refer to the APSC work level standards, PM&C Performance Model or get in touch with the contact officer to discuss.
